Today, it seems I’ve changed
somehow the world doesn’t feel the same
Familiar shadows revealed again
Sweet sorrows remembering when
It’s strange how the body knows
hidden beneath scarlet ribbons and bows are wounds of long ago
somehow it knows
And now I see through my eyes
what you might see in a different light
loved ones gathered by your side
in the blink of an eye you might die
Walking the ledge to eternity
afraid of dying and leaving your family
on this final journey coming home to be free
The times I’ve lived in pain
I’d like to go home again
the suffering of this human form
sometimes I wish I’d never been born
Remembering our divinity
obscured within humanity is a life purpose to be free
being who we’re birthed to be
I dreamed of you one night
from heaven I came on a 10-speed bike
you were young, so handsome then
in a minister’s robe way back when
I knew your face I loved your smile
but I would not be born for awhile
You didn’t know that girl in the hall
she picked her father cause he was the best choice of all
for creating her path on earth chosen at birth
And daddy you have blessed me with the presence of love all my life
you’ve given me so purely a strength of spirit through strife
So blessings on your journey home
I know for you you’ll never be alone
and when you see the light
we’ll hold you in flight
Today, it seems I’ve changed . . .
somehow the world doesn’t feel the same
Familiar shadows revealed again
Sweet sorrows remembering when

hidden beneath scarlet ribbons and bows are wounds of long ago
